What is Hilingo?
Hilingo is a language exam practice platform for PTE Academic, PTE Core, IELTS, CELPIP, the Duolingo English Test and TCF Canada in French, built by Central Business & Technology Inc. in Toronto, Canada. It differs from most practice sites in one respect: the scoring engine is its own rather than licensed in. Every speaking answer is scored per component — pronunciation, fluency and content — with the words you said set against what was expected. On tasks with a reference text, such as PTE Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence and our French read-aloud drill, the recording is aligned word by word and scored sound by sound against IPA. Writing is marked per criterion instead of as a single number. Objective questions come back with the correct answer, a plain-English reason, and the exact sentence in the passage or transcript that proves it. A full mock runs the length of the real exam and is scored in minutes; the first one is free and needs no card. OET is in development, with TEF Canada and LanguageCert to follow.

Why is my speaking stuck at 7?
Both mocks lost most in Task 3, describing a scene: you ran out of things to say after 40 seconds and paused five times. That is a structure problem, not a vocabulary problem.

CELPIP vs IELTS vs PTE Core: which test can you actually score CLB 9 in?
All three tests are accepted for Canadian immigration and all three convert to CLB. They do not spread the difficulty the same way — IELTS loads almost the whole CLB 7 to 9 climb onto listening, PTE Core asks for 88 out of 90 in writing. The right test depends on your weakest skill.

Most comparisons treat this as a choice between an English test and a French one. For Express Entry it usually is not a choice at all — French at NCLC 7 is worth up to 50 extra CRS points on top of your English score, and you are allowed to submit both.

At CLB 9 these two tests are hard in completely different places. IELTS wants listening 8.0 while everything else stays at 7.0. PTE Core wants writing 88 out of 90 while reading stays at 78. Once you know your weakest skill, the choice mostly makes itself.
