Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
The data controller for personal information collected through the Platform is Central Business & Technology Inc. (operating as Hilingo), an Ontario-registered corporation with its registered office at Office 680, 145 1/2 Church Street, Unit 5, Toronto, ON M5B 1Y4, Canada.
Unless restricted by applicable law, by using the Hilingo website, mobile applications and services (collectively, the "Services") you agree that any personal data relating to you that we collect or you provide may be used, processed and disclosed for the purposes and to the persons set out in this Privacy Policy.
As part of our effort to properly manage, protect and process your personal data, we review our policies, procedures and processes from time to time. We may amend this Privacy Policy at any time by posting a revised version on the Platform. While we try to send an individual notice every time the policy is amended, your continued use of the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the amended Policy. Please check this page periodically for updates.
Browsing without an account
You can browse the Hilingo website without disclosing personal data. You are not required to provide personal data as a condition of browsing — only where it is necessary for us to deliver a Service you have requested, respond to your enquiries, or where you contact us directly.
Information we collect
When you use our Services we collect information from and about you, your devices and your interactions with the Platform. Some of this information identifies you directly or, when combined with other data, can be used to identify you. Any data, true or not, about an individual who can be identified from that data — or from that data combined with other information we have or are likely to have — is treated as Personal Data.
We may automatically collect certain information based on your behaviour on the Platform, including:
- The URL you arrived from and the URL you go to next (whether on Hilingo or not).
- Browser type and version, device information and operating system.
- IP address and approximate location.
- Pages viewed, time spent, practice attempts, mock test results and other interactions with our Services.
We use this information to conduct internal research on demographics, interests and usage patterns so we can understand, protect and improve our Services.
If you post reviews, send messages or leave feedback, we collect the information you provide. We retain it as needed to resolve disputes, provide customer support and troubleshoot problems, as permitted by law. If you send us emails or other correspondence — or if other users contact us about your activities on the Platform — we may collect that correspondence in a file specific to you.
We collect personally identifiable information (such as email address, name, phone number, profile picture, target exam and target score) when you create an account. We use your contact information to deliver the Services, send transactional messages and — where allowed — share relevant offers based on your activity and interests. Even if you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we may still need to email you with important transactional or administrative information about your account.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used: where visitors click and scroll, and recordings of a visit with the text people type hidden. We use the Meta Pixel on hilingo.com, app.hilingo.com and onboarding.hilingo.com to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads: it tells Meta when a visit leads to a sign-up, a demo request or a purchase. For sign-ups and purchases we may also send the same event from our server. It includes your email address and phone number, hashed (irreversibly scrambled) first, plus your IP address, browser type, Meta's cookie identifiers, the page address and, for purchases, the amount. For institute sign-ups it includes the institute's name. We only send it when the Meta Pixel was allowed on your visit, and still allowed when you pay. The Meta Pixel is never loaded on an institute's own portal. On your first visit a banner asks you to choose.
- Essential only: no analytics cookie is stored on your device. Google Analytics sends cookie-free signals, Clarity treats each page view on its own without linking it to your other visits, and the Meta Pixel does not load.
- Accept all: these tools may set cookies so that a returning visit can be recognised.
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are treated as Essential only until they accept. To change your choice, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again. Storage that is strictly necessary, such as keeping you signed in, does not need consent. Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the Meta Pixel runs until you choose Essential only.
Accuracy of your data
You should ensure that all Personal Data you submit is complete, accurate, true and correct. If you do not, we may be unable to deliver the Services you have requested. We will take reasonable steps to keep your Personal Data accurate and complete where it is likely to be used to make a decision affecting you, or disclosed to another organisation — but you must also update us if your information changes. We will not be responsible for relying on inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data resulting from your failure to update us.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent loss, misuse or alteration of your Personal Data. All Personal Data you provide is stored on secure servers in encrypted form. You acknowledge, however, that transmitting information over the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your data, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to the Platform; any transmission is at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for unauthorised use of your Personal Data by third parties caused by factors beyond our control.
We urge you to take steps to keep your information safe — choose a strong password, keep it private, log out of your account, and close your browser when you finish using our Services on a shared or unsecured device.
Deleting your account
You have full control over your profile and the data stored against it. You can delete your account and all associated data yourself from your Hilingo profile settings, or email support@hilingo.com and we will delete your profile and stored data on your behalf, confirming once it is done.
Consent
By using the Platform and/or providing your information, you consent to the collection and use of that information in accordance with this Privacy Policy, including any sharing of information described here. If we update this Policy, we will post the changes on this page so you are always aware of what we collect, how we use it, and the circumstances under which we may disclose it.
Content removal requests
Practice material on Hilingo is authored by our team or adapted from publicly available preparation sources. If you believe a question, passage, recording or image on the platform reproduces content you own, email support@hilingo.com with a link or screenshot of the item, a description of the original work, and a statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We acknowledge every request within two business days and remove or replace verified content within ten business days.
